Racing Rules

Would it be possible to arrange an evening at the club for some one to present a lecture on a set of diffinintive racing rules.

As a new nember who is now getting into the racing side of sailing I am starting to struggle a bit on rules and tend to find when I ask a question depending on who is in ear shot I get six different answers which can get very confussing as every one seems to have there own interpritation of the rules.

I no that other new members like my self are exsperiencing the same problems and a bit of constructive guidence would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

  • Good idea, we could all do with refsher on some of the basic rules. We could use some models etc, This idea might help our up and coming Topper fleet.

  • Most people know more "rules " than they think.........a lot of it is common sense. The further up the fleet one races the less one needs to rely on the rules.
It tends to be the loudest participants that intimidate the quieter or less experienced.
The protest form is the best way of learning rules as the protest commitee are unbiased. AC.
Rule 1 dont be afraid to protest.......it gets results.
Rule 2 dont protest at the bar it just gets louder.
