Just a Thought.
This may be an old idea, but I'll run it up your flagpole anyway. As someone who is bringing up the rear of most races,I've noticed the same members at the front,or just behind me on their second lap.So could we have a race, every other week, once a month, oreven a third race with a mixture of novice and experienced crews drawn out of a bag just before the race. This would give valuable knowledge and tips to people like me! I think it may create closer racing and give the better sailors an insight into what chaos is going on behind (in our boat anyway).

What a fantastic idea Rob, I have been struggling for months to get up the fleet ( to no avail!) and I am sure this would help no end and cut out the "THEM & US" scenario and progress the fleet as a "TEAM" and progress us further in the league of competitive racing as a sailing club and not as individuals.

Anything to overcome the 'THEM and US' feeling is very welcome. I will put forward your suggestion at the next committee meeting (or sooner) to see what can be done.

Iam in communication with Grahame
Forshaw a Royal Navy Instructor. We are trying to arrange a date, ASAP for him to do a talk at the Club. My sailing and results have deffinately improved since listening to him at the boat show in 2005. I will happily sail with others. Dave Hall.

I think now the junior members are geting some excelent trainning it time to help some of the adults, its very sole destroying and tends to make people give up if they are always at the back plus it must get very boring for the front peggers to have no competion. Or are they afraid of passing on the knowledge and loosoing there crowns? Embrace the change, competion is healthy not a threat.
