Club boat
Following the new debate about a new stable, controllable, fun and comfortable boat, I have been looking on the laser sailing site to choose a good boat and I found out that a laser stratus would be a nice big boat its simerler to a laser 2000 but a little bigger with proper seats and a wide hull.

Great boat James and good effort and good to see you embracing change, only one problem with that it doesn't have the letters G/P or the numbers 1 and 4 in its name so the commitee couldn't possibly even consider it.

The committee are in the process of evaluating various dinghys suitable for training purposes, last week the vision, this week the 2000 during this process we have consulted with our trainees and we feel this is the most positive approach however we are opoen to ideas from all members but the criteria must be a safe comfortable cost effective and welcoming dinghy in order to encourage trainees to eventually become members and enjoy the vibrant club racing scene.
Trainees like using the GP 14 and i would be first to agree that it would be good to replace them with asymetric dinghys but our water is not always suitable. In the ideal world we would have a range of dinghys but this is simply not practical. If someone has a sensible comment to make about a possible replacement for the GP 14 the this would be most welcome and i agree the Stratos looks good .

Not sailed in one myself, but yes its the next up in the range from the 2000 and I'm fairly sure offers a similar amount of room to Gp14. If we could find one to try we should - only down side they're quite expensive. Good suggestion James.

Trying boats is good and well providing the people making the decisions actualy go out and sail the boats them selves rather than formulating an opineon based on preconseived assumptions.
So far we have tried a couple of boats but only a very limited few have acualy sailed them, but a far higher number have already formulated an opineon.
This is not embraceing change, it is only hindering change.
Please can I encourage people to at least try out new idea's with an open mind.
Kind Regards

I feel the appoach the club is taking is very sensible, trying out the different boats and asking the trainers for their views. I feel we should listen to the trainers as they are the ones who will sail them with the new members. However isn't a great debate to have which new boats do we purchase rather than how can we afford to invest in the club.
