If we're thinking about the Stratos, a cheaper alternative second hand at least is the Sport 14 - Max used to have one and quite a few people sailed it - my own recollection was that it was fairly roomy and stable.

Having sailed the Sport 14 at Sutton it was very stable and had a lot of room. The difficulty with them is that they do not tack through the wind well and are easily put in irons on light wind days. They are used as training boats and are a very dry boat although quite heavy to lug around.
