Congratulations To Skippers Alan & Bev Brown

After a grueling 12 hour day/night under exam conditions Bev & Alan passed and obtained there yatch masters tickets.
Having already canceled the exam twice this year due to storm conditions Wednesday gave us force 5-6 winds most of the day which made manouvers very intersting in the Solant and to top it all the echo sounder died comeing out of the Hamble at low water under the darkness of night. To add even more presure at the start of the week when training we were fog bound for most of the Monday which put there blind navigation skills to practise and we had no wind for most of Monday/Tuesday.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing them every happiness and success with there future plans of actually living the dream.
They are both a shinning example of what change and progress is all about.

Congratulations to them both as they have so earned it.

  • It's still sinking in! As many of you will know we've been studying and practising for this for a year now - so you can imagine the relief / excitement. We'd both like to say a very BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us with your kind words of encouragement and support through the 'ups and downs'of the two postponements. Special thanks must go to Dennis (B) and Faz who were with us on the day. They worked like Trojans and didn't complain once when we had to get sails in and out a dozen times. Not to mention, having to retrieve a very wet fender and hank of rope that served as our 'man overboard' - fondly christened Bill!
Thanks also to Mike Hughes who couldn't be with us last week but who had crewed for us earlier in the year prior to a previous attempt - postponed through awful weather. Thanks also to you 'bloggers' who have contributed so kindly to Faz's report - we shall keep and reread these when we're in some far flung corner of the world that is forever Powells Pool.
