Merlin Rocket open 15 10 06
Thanks to those members who supported the club at this event, it takes a lot of effort to ensure that the day went off without a hitch, from the purchasing, preperation and delivery of a first class meal , pudding, club house, bar, bridge team and the man power to clear it all away. For the majority of members who did not attend ! YOU missed a great day, enough wind to make the merlins fly around the course, and for those of us who are interested in the technical gadgets, well the roping systems look like a wiring diagram from a BT exchange box.
Two of our topper fleet sailors were lucky enough to find crewing positions available, well done.
The racing was very exciting and 3 races of about 8 laps were run.
Negotiations have taken place for this event to be run on a saturday next year, thus giving us another sunday for club sailing.
Thanks to Purple Marine for sponsoring the event & providing the prizes.
Unfortunatly the meeting was poorly attended by the majority of club members, I have no idea why and would be greatful for any feed back. Dave Hall.

Hi Dave
I think a contributing factor to the low attendance might be we don't really have a Merlin fleet anymore.
Trying not to sound negative, with the amount of work involed in running an open should we consider not having a merlin open as the other fleets are taking up a huge amount of time but are making alot of progress, look what the toppers have acheived this year.
Maybe its time to move on, but thats just my veiw.
