RACING RULES QUIZ NIGHT

WEDNESDAY 1st NOVEMBER AT 7.30

For the next 'First Wednesday of the Month' Social we plan to have a Quiz Night on Racing Rules.

This should be good and some of you need it so remember to put it in your diary.

The quiz will be based on a series of animated graphics, a sample of which can be seen by clicking on the following link. This will take you to a 'hidden' page on our website.

  • I am glad the example on the web page is an easy one. Just thought I would offer some explanation (without sailing terms!) for those who thought the red boat was wrong! In the racing rules the wind has to come from either the right or the left both boats are on the same tack because the sails are on the same side. The wind is presumed to come from the opposite side to the sail so the wind is presumed to come from the right of the picture. Thus the blue boat is upwind or the windward boat and must keep clear. Nov 1st should be fun. Max
