RYA TV - an exciting new free to view online video channel will be going live with its first show on Monday 19 November. The service gets underway with Dame Ellen MacArthur DBE talking about the RYAs brand new, two-day ‘Basic Navigation and Safety’ course.

With a new 6 to 10 minute programme scheduled every six week, RYA TV aims to bring members and website visitor’s news, comment, views and issues on the work of the RYA, directly from the people who are doing it. Produced in partnership with online TV channel Yachting TV, RYA TV will be available to view through www.rya.org.uk.

ISAF Recognised Status for the RS Tera

The RS Tera has been granted ISAF Recognised Status following the sustained international growth of the class. Over 700 youngsters have become hooked on the Tera since its launch last year and, with the first international event in Sweden prior to the RS Feva Worlds, the pile of discarded Playstations looks set to get bigger in 2008!

RYA Dinghy Instructor Course

I have spoken with Alex Copshott from Youth Afloat, he is willing to come to the club and run a Dinghy Instructors Course for anyone who is interested.

To attend the course you need to hold a first aid certificate and your level 2 powerboat certificate.

The course is as follows:
1 Day of Pre Entry Assessment
5 Days of Course
1 Day of Assessment

There are 2 course dates available subject to numbers:
1st Course
23 November - Pre Entry Assessment
26 - 30 November - Course 9am - 5pm
1 Dec - Assessment

2nd Course
3 Weekends in February - Sat / Sun 9am - 5pm
We would need to find a day to do pre assessment prior to this date, Alex has suggested 23 November, but is flexible.

Costs:
The instructors charge £140 / day so the more people the cheaper it gets, max 12 people.
EG- Total cost of course 7 days x £140 = £980.00 say 8 people on course = £122.50 per person.
