Race Training

ENTERPRISE RACE TRAINING

After a successful start to the race training with the Topper Fleet this year, we would like to extend our training programme to include the Enterprise Fleet.

As such we are laying on 2 Sunday Morning Race Training Clinics for all Enterprise Sailors.

Sunday 18th June – 11am – 1pm Followed by the Neville Sperryn Trophy

Sunday 2nd July – 11am – 1pm – Followed by the Enterprise Club Championships.

We will lay on a lunch on both Sundays for the sailors who wish to stay around and race in the afternoon.

After so many Enterprises racing recently we would love to get 20 boats racing in the Club Championships, so come along, you never know you may even learn something!

The Training will be run by Greg O’Brien and David Batsford. We will be covering the following:
Roll Tacking / Tacking in a breeze
Roll Gybing / Gybing in a breeze
Downwind sailing and the use of a jibstick
Starting
Mark Rounding
Boat Tuning

If there are any other areas that you would like to cover, then please let us know.

Could you please e-mail (
greg@purplemarine.com) or call Greg on 07702 000032 to book your place on the course.

Sailing Website

I found this website when surfing the tinternet. Bear in mind that its an American site but there's some interesting stuff on it that might be worth a browse...

There are some useful videos for anyone that might be thinking of taking the powerboat course.

Results of Race Protest 17/05/06.

The results of race protest by F.Goding against U. Hughes where deemed inconclusive by the protest committee.

This was put down to a lack of witnesses during the alleged incident.

Both parties have respectfully excepted this decision.

Thanks To All Involed.

Thanks to Instructors

Just got back from a slightly damp BBQ. We just wanted to say thanks to the Instructors on the Level 2 course. It has been great fun and we have enjoyed it so much that we have decided to join the club.

I am sure that we can and will learn a lot more, but in the meantime please forgive the mistakes!

Just to confuse things even further I thought I would add the Rules Rambles from last months Dinghy Sailing Magazine. Those of you new to racing may find this of interest!

Sailing Tips

Following the comments made during last night's committee meeting it is becoming apparent that more members are beginning to use the blog but there are still a lot who don't.

To try to increase the number who use it I have started to add Sailing Tips. Thus there is a link on the RHS of the blog to some notes to explain the purpose of the Sailing Tips and also a link to the first set of tips.

Any constructive comments are welcome
